Had to read it for class. I like to read but this book was a drag. Some ok point but pretty shit.

Constantly states throughout the book that claims of superiority from one race of people over another race comes from a place of bigotry and is wrong. He then goes on a rant about how the native people of New Guinea are so superior to those of any modern society. How they are more capable at a younger age and how their way of life is superior. Fucking retard trashes one of the main arguments in his own book.

This is so incredibly stupid. Europe is much harder to survive in than Africa, which is why the people who survived there ended up being more capable. And also by definition the Europeans are descendants of the people who were curious and competent enough to trek out if Africa in the first place, while Africans are descendants of the ones who were content being fat and happy where they were.

Yeah but the part that's east of that mountain range is pretty much the size of Europe so it's not like commerce and advancement couldn't have just happened in that part.

Europeans never invented the technologies necessary to make civilization work in environments different than their own because they never needed to. In the beginning of civilization where the cradle of civilization was in the warmer environements, water management was the key to civilization, and thus they invented water management systems. These inventions of course were useless where water was plentiful and people instead had to deal with a 6-month winter. Europeans intern invented stuff to deal with a short growing season and the cold, its just after having invented that, they kept inventing even more and got a runaway lead.

The most important invention for bringing the African continent into the world system has been the pre-paid mobile phone. The usual method of contracts and infrastructure makes sense for a european society because you can expect them to keep to the contract. In Africa you can't have phone lines because they would just destroy them and you can't have phone plans because they would never keep to them, but what you can have is a phone you pay for in advance and this revolutionized Africa as they use these phones to do their banking. You want to know who invented these phones? Vodacom, a south african company founded in 1994 that launched their product in 1996

One major one is that most anthropologists and biologists now believe humans interbred with archaic humans as they "came out of Africa." This. Environment had a huge effect on the development of civilization. Life in the northern hemisphere required that people plan for surviving winter and develop technology to stay warm and active during the cold months.

You might have a point on bison to be worked with, but bison not being ridden has nothing to do with domestication, the way their gait works and how they move, it fucks up a rider's back after enough time. It's why even whites/westerners, and even by now in modern times, haven't domesticated bison for riding (excluding unique cases).

Whites have deep empathy & are a high trust people so their weakness is that they can be manipulated into being too altruistic and nice.

Thing is though, patience has limits.
The best thing that can happen to whites is to be oppressed harder, because it will wake them up and force them into solidarity

I really like how the entire book is supposed to explain away racial arguments for European supremacy, and then goes out of his way to describe how Native American's lack of immunity to disease is deeply genetic and rooted in different selective pressures having been put on them for the last ten thousand years.

(Which incidentally also explains why pre-Columbian peoples evolved to be way more violent than any of their counterparts, even Africans)

Yes he does, but due to those with weaker immune systems dying out as part of natural selection. The natives who died post-contact were the ones who didn't have the strong immune system 'genes.' So this is basically a racial argument to make.

And this is also where the origin of the natives' predisposition towards violence lies. Under natural circumstances, people overpopulate with each generation, women easily give birth to 5-6, sometimes even 13-15 children. It's impossible to keep this growth for a prolonged period time with everyone surviving, thus, the excess population always had to be culled through certain controlling measures. In Eurasia, a lot of this was done due to diseases killing an untold number of infants, but without this factor, the New World always had lots of 'unnecessary' starving people to be shed through near-perpetual, neverending tribal warfare, in which the more violent always came out as victor. Rinse and repeat for ten thousand years and you had the literal nightmare with which the Spaniards were presented.

They lived isolated and comfortable in their own niche. The whole point is that there wasn’t a lot of selection at all. They are dark to protect against the sun and we’re low in numbers to where competition for resources was never too great.
