I would argue on a cyclical basis the “modern world” which I date starting basically with the dominance of Anglo-American culture around 1600 (with 1350-1600 being a sort of “dark age” after the midevil high) is coming to an end.

But there have been findings where modern humans (as in us) were ritualistically buried along with tools and weapons, where these sites were dated to be 350k years old.
