Why do people make a big deal about impeachment? The President doesn't have to resign if he's impeached, right? In fact nothing changes at all in the day to day lives of anyone. It's just an official declaration that the political opposition thinks that you suck, but EVERY sitting President sucks in eyes of their opposition, what difference would an impeachment make? Is it supposed to "shame" the President? If so, it ain't gonna work on Trump, obviously. He's raised shamelessness to an art form.

They need a simply majority vote to impeach in the House, and a Two-Thirds vote in the senate to remove. If he really tried to pardon himself, I am confident that he would be removed. The Supreme Court would also probably rule against his ability to do that because it is not what the founders intended. Imagine if he tried to pardon every prisoner in the U.S. for example, no one would let that just happen. Like how the Queen still technically has power in the U.K., if she actually tried to use it she would have that power taken from her very quickly.
