It depends what you mean by "ahead in life." Will those things give you material goods, respect from men, and frivolous sex? Absolutely. If the criteria in judging Christianity vs living the life you describe is based on material gain, then Christianity loses. But maybe think about the bigger picture, about what will give you spiritual fulfillment and reconciliation with God?
