All of those candidates ran away from Trump, in terms of endorsements and asking for campaigning help and such. Given how much Californians hate Trump, who knows if that would have hurt or helped them. But I think reps and senators in other states who embraced Trump usually won their races. Most Republican voters won't get out to vote for a Republican congressman who won't even back the Republican president. I imagine the Republicans who hate Trump themselves just voted for the Democrats instead.

Also, maybe someone from Cali can help me on this, but it seems like most of your Republican candidates are just pulled out of a hat randomly. The Republican candidate for Governor, John Cox, literally has on his Wikipedia page this part saying he "is an American accountant, businessman, broadcaster, attorney, politician, and perennial candidate for public office from Illinois." You can't be surprised about losing elections if you're putting perennial candidates on your ticket. To be sure there's some local Republicans throughout California who could run for office?

Those are my thoughts, maybe others can chime in. Yes, I think it's alarming how these seats are being lost. Republicans might be able to win some of them back in 2020 or later. But the trend in Cali is clear. It's becoming a one party state faster than anywhere else in the nation. Even Massachusetts at least has a Republican governor. It has the demographics to support it.
