Cutting or not holding press events would only hurt Trump supporters. Trump would effectively be silencing himself by doing that.

It's not a ruling but injuction, a temporary order to maintain the original state of things until the court case is heard. It's standard procedure in many cases involving a civil disagreement over property or rights including evictions.

I think it would have been much more effective if they kicked him out for being a disruptive, argumentative prick instead of trying to take the assault angle. There was a much stronger case for the former as opposed to looking petty with the latter to try and use the left's own tactics against itself. Shifted the argument to examining his contact with the girl as opposed to professional conduct in the press room. Battle was lost as soon as they did that.

Because of the federal judge ruling for Acosta, Trump is writing up a code of conduct that all press correspondents must adhere to. Now that rules are in place, failure to follow this rules will justify revoking hard pass.

In addition, Trump has advised all staff to just walk out of a press conference without answering any questions.
