I started reading the Quran after finishing the Bible. I'm about half way through.

OT advocates peace... but God demands for the Israelites to genocide people... The whole Quran talks about seeking peace, but then demands justice if people do things that cross the line. A line drawn in Leviticus.... God doesn't want to wipe out random non-jews in OT. He is cleansing the land of corrupted peoples. In the Quran, it seems to preach the same thing. Do all the right things that God asks us to do, but if someone makes big transgressions or leaves the faith, kill them. ALL of that is in Leviticus.

Yeah I have read it. Preaches peace and forgives? - What is only regret of person that dies fighting for Allah? That he cant return to life to do it again. And part about not pestering the prophet was showing clearly that Muhammad was just making it up as he went. Quran is supposed to be THE book that God himself made at beginning of time .... and it talks about not pestering the Prophet and if you come to visit him to come during the lunch and to leave after.... I had to read part of the Quran for one of my uni classes and from what I saw it's absolute garbage. The Quran only tells part of the story. It gives you the basic religious building blocks (e.g. the idea that infidels are worth less than animals and need to be eradicated), but you need to add the Sunna to get the rest of it (i.e. Mohammeds actions and sayings in establishing a murderous totalitarian state, the details of which are an eternal perfect role model for every Muslim to follow).
The reason Islam is a murderous totalitarian proto-fascist/imperialist ideology today is that it was that way from the beginning. Whatever you can pin on Christianity in terms of violence and politics tends be more closely related to man-made policies that are much more difficult to justify with the NT or even OT.
Arguably the Reformation as a return to Scripture to abolish the man-made church apparatus is structurally similar to the Saudi-led Wahhabi Salafist movement. The quran would be like ONLY the parts of the bible where god spoke. It makes almost no sense without context. The sura is the story of Mohamed (I think), and the hadith are the things Mohamed said. The sharia (aka "reliance of the traveler") is the most authoritative INTERPRETATION of them all.

Well I decided to read the Abdul Haleem translation based on this infographic and it's very easy to read.
