It's dumb that they didn't make Captain Jack an updated version of Calico Jack, the two characters were already extremely similar. Then, to still go this route, they could have made the new female pirate based off of Anne Bonny or Mary Read.

it felt more like an actual anthology of pirate adventures, instead of just making everything a big epic trilogy shit that 2&3 tried.
Stranger Tides is worth checking out, has very little tied to to the previous sequels other than Jack and Barbosa

I for one think it's about time we saw strong female leads in movies. It's just not been done before, we need MORE female characters who are smart, self-reliant, and non-sexualized.

We need more, more smarmy female characters who show up men by being better than them at everything, and ultimately fulfill a narrative in the film that women make better leaders than men, which is TOTALLY mirrored in real life. Just look at what Kathleen kennedy did for the Star Wars franchise.

putting everything on how the actress looks, not what the intent of the writers and directors, or how they film the scenes
