With high populations, you have more specialization, ending up with more goods and services. But, the scarcity means they will live poorer lives in terms of physical wealth.
As an example, you could live on an island with 100 people, and whatever resource you want, diamonds, oil, natural gas, hot springs. So long as you don't have trade, you will have a poor life, as you cannot have enough specialization compared to the world we have now, there's not enough people.

im not going to say which company, but I work for one of the biggest auto manufacturers in the world. While im not a engineer or anything like that, I know some and others in higher up positions. Self driving cars like this will never be a thing in our lifetime, countless of reasons why too. Some obvious for the shekels, some for legit reasons. Thats not to say it wont be a thing in a more smaller capacity though just dont expect semis and buses to go auto.
