Political parties are not a problem. That the system pretends they don't exist is. You can't simply wipe them away. In the market place of free ideas, parties will form in some capacity. It is an inevitability. A system that supports is designed around political parties as an official function would be a better course to both the current situation and the plan you've outlined.
