There is a lot of truth to this user. It gives you skills and a different mentality. If you apply yourself you also discover the ability to spend large periods of time doing little or nothing without becoming anxious. You learn to physically discipline yourself and how to fight. The downside is that when you are free again the drive to be gluttonous with your vices can be destructive. Also your permanent criminal record can be a major obstacle. I'd say its a good way to learn right and wrong, read, and earn some self pride but I would argue that for anyone who would like the same effect without the negatives should just join the military.
