We need a form of socialism and nationalism

Boomers can get the gas for this bullshit

Bring on the boycott, faggots. All we need anyway is cocoa, tea, and coffee.

To win monopoly, just build house and not hotels. Squeeze the housing supply. Sit back and watch people REEEEEEE as you bleed them dry.

I was driving an Uber for these rich Boomers, picked them up from their gated house in their gated neighborhood, two gates. We talk history for a bit, they were incredibly ignorant but we got into nothing political or controversial, and one of the Boomers in the front asked me "So how do you feel about the future?" I replied, "I feel fine."

As his hand was on the door handle to leave, he replied, "I'm glad you feel that way, because in twenty years, I won't even be around then." Gets out of the car with the other couple, not even a thank you for the trip. It felt like a big "haha fuck you."

All of my personal observations and life experiences bear them out as a generation of sociopaths. Bruce Cannon Gibney really filled in the blanks for me. I think it's always something Millennials and Gen Xers suspected from when we were very young.

Now they're aware we earn less and real estate is more expensive, we have more debt, and they make fun of us. It's a Satanic generation.

Boomers were raised by a generation of men that fought in brutal wars at a time when the effects of this were completely ignored. Not to mention, they came of age at possibly the peak of Western civilization in terms of personal freedoms and wealth. The Cold War also defined the times and placed Americanism at the forefront of the world in every way from its philosophy to its military strength.

The reality is that boomers are opposite to the current generation in every way and that's why the culture gap is so huge. Young people now live in a Western world that's declining economically, culturally, and morally. I think most young people on either side of the political spectrum feel as if things are only going to get worse in the West from here when the boomers grew up with the opposite impression

And the improved version became one of the best selling boardgames.
Capitalism: 1
Socialism: 0

But they just don't care. They're mocking us.

It was also well-known Gen X would earn less than the preceding generation, and did any of these Boomers give a fuck? Nope. They made fun of Gen X too. And a society which shits on young people, a generation which does, that's emblematic of a deep sickness and poison in itself.

I don't think it's usually intentional mocking though. I think it's that boomers grew up with this utopian vision of what the West would like by now, especially with the fall of the Soviet Union, that they think if we're not happy or successful it must be our fault or that our standards are too high despite having a lower standard of living than they're generation.

I think it's more that boomers' background makes it virtually impossible to understand what it's like to come of age during a period of decline.

>our standards are too high
>aware that we're priced out of real estate
pick one

They took the lollipop from both their parents and children, and telling young people there's something wrong with them for being broken with half of us having grown up in broken, divorced homes, declining economic prospects.

Not all of it is attributable to your average Boomer. I'm not accusing them of getting in a room and conspiring to push a button to create lower economic prospects for their children. But divorce, hook-up culture, the deterioration of just about every social institution in society. That I can blame on them. The overarching economic schemes? Not necessarily, but it doesn't help the real estate market when your parents refinanced and sold the family homes, then bought, refinanced, and sold another two or three after that. And they told us to just take out these student loans, and didn't care about the numbers, that college tuition has increased by six hundred percent since the 80s, when the youngest Boomers were graduating college. Look at that, another institution, upper academia, which completely went to shit under the Boomer sociopaths.

that board is missing spaces
-t. rich uncle pennybags

Hook up culture was spread by the "greatest generation" through their influence within the schools. Boomers are essentially the earlier version of the millennial.

But it's fun though!

It's should replace Boardwalk and Park Place with Mom's basement and Safe Space.

instead it shows that even when 90% of outcomes are up to chance, you can still profit
this kills the gommie

No, it's actually and objectively one of the worst and most unfun board games of all time and the only reason it has been succesful is because it created a cultural feedback loop where everyone has tricked each other into thinking Monopoly is this magnificent pillar of board games required in every household.

Attached: expert sena.png (580x580, 326K)

so people play this game, because they think it's fun, and not because it's fun?

>vegan bistro
>yoga studio
>animal rescue
>week-long meditation retreat
this shit better not be real

>implying I am 24 and don't have 2 rental properties

People don't play Monopoly. People buy stupid pop cultured themed re-releases to gather dust in their homes because "gotta have Monopoly in the house".

>no investments

Wait so, why would one pay "rent" to land on a 3 day music festival, for example?

This is so stupid

You're right that people think it's fun, and that it's a staple for board games, but you're wrong that it's not fun. I love to play

Well some people also love eating feces.

But seriously, you LOVE to play it? You love playing a game for fucking hours where the most significant interaction you're ever gonna have with the game is a fucking diceroll? Where winners and losers are decided after 20 minutes but you still have to go through the motions and actually grind out the results in the most boring, tedious fashion? You love playing a game where at best one person is having a good time and everyone is just waiting for it all to end?

Any fun you might have while playing Monopoly is because of the people around you and DESPITE the game, not because of it.

>t Guy who sucks at Monopoly and is bad with money

doesn't work if others are doing it too or own a lot of property. also, can't you just pay the entire amount of 4 houses+hotel to skip to the hotel?

It's not about rolling dice but managing assets. Managing your solid and liquid finances is what makes the game fun and it's what can turn you from a loser into a winner.
You say that only one person really has fun and everyone else just waits for the end, but maybe that's because (you)'re surrounded by casuals who aren't good at it at all. When you play monopoly with 4 or 5 people who are all good at it, everyone else has more fun, whether they're losing or winning at any given point.
The game is conducive of the people you play with, but it's by no means a bad game.

I've actually had a tell me I need to get a job so I can pay for his social security. He was joking but you could tell he meant it. He was nice besides that giving me advice on how to look for a job when you have one and stuff. They are just egotistical in a weird communal way

this is the same kind of shitposting you see on garbage boards like /v/
games like monopoly facilitate social interaction, yes the game wouldn't be fun if you played by yourself, but it's easy to use a game like monopoly to have more fun than you'd have not playing anything
and monopoly IS fun

Yes but you gotta do it evenly, so other properties also need hotels or at least 4 houses

On the color, not across all properties*

It doesn't help that most people don't read the rules. The meat of the game is bidding on property, which is something basically nobody does. I would say most people don't even know that they can do this, they just run in circles around the board buying stuff. The challenge comes from randomness and taking advantage of people.

> Managing your solid and liquid finances is what makes the game fun and it's what can turn you from a loser into a winner.
lmao, what the fuck are you talking about. Here are all the interactions you can do in Monopoly
>rolling dice
>deciding if you want to buy a property when you land on it
>deciding when and where to build/sell houses/hotels
>deciding when and where to take mortgages
>trading with other players
>meme shit like event card choices
Now you might notice most of these are barely interactive or non-decisions. You generally want to buy every proprety you land on because there is finite number of them and you have no guarantee to land on it or any other property again. Houses are a bit more interactive, but still the decisions are generally very straightforward as there are objectively best places to focus on, fields players are more likely to land on and giving you more money. Mortgages are very much a desperation play and you dont ever really wanna do it unless you have to. The most interesting part if trading with other players. But even then it's all based on the diceroll because that what decides what bargain chips you have.
There's virtually no room for strategy in Monopoly.

>but it's easy to use a game like monopoly to have more fun than you'd have not playing anything
First, duh. Playing something should be more fun than playing nothing, but is that your argument as to why Monopoly is fun - "better than doing nothing"? Second, it's actually very arguable if that is even the case. You know that Simpsons gag about Monopoly-incuded violence? Monopoly being a shit game is such a meme Simpsons made fun of it decades ago. The game for the most part is frustrating and tedious, which is why it makes people angry/annoyed.

Also not surprised most defenders are north american, a big part of why boardgames became much bigger in Europe is because in NA most consumers only know Monopoly and think all boardgames are as shit.

I actually play monopoly because I enjoy it. My mom gave me her game that's in a nice wooden case and all that jazz, real cool.

The greedy, entitled middle class are the ones pushing the property bubble, not the super rich.

people who complain about real estate being too expensive just aren't looking in the right places. you can find condos in Vegas for under $100k

learn to enjoy your suffering goy

you will NEVER own a house

you will NEVER have a virgin wife

and you will NEVER have any kids

now go watch BLACKED porn and pay your taxes

>you can pay 100k for an apartment in a shithole
cool

Uhhh, guys... what the fuck?

SHUT IT DOWN

better than paying 4x as much in faveLA.

>not playing Illuminopoly.
>shame on you.

Oh yeah, and when is the Jow Forums version of Monopoly being released?
asking for a friend.

asheepnomore.net/2014/10/03/illuminopoly-elites-game-leading-world-war-3/

dropping this here as food for thought.

Isn't it funny? Most people don't read the rules, but still try to play? Just like IRL.

>400k
>LA

I never seen someone trigger over monopoly before.

> I suck at monopoly and lose in the first 20 minutes

almost everyone plays it wrong though
Most people have retarded rules like getting money when you land directly on free parking or just add more money which ruins the in-game economy and makes the game last a lot longer than it should.
Then you rarely see people actually auction, or mortgage properties.

Its not the greatest game ever and it definitely is overrated but you are being too harsh on it

iss this game any good?

Attached: 81eaou3WThL._SL1500_.jpg (1500x1500, 279K)

I'm not trigger, I'm just calling a shit boardgame shit. The worst you can attest to me is that I am slightly annoyed a game this bad has been this financially succesful (and ruined boardgames for like half a continent).

Nevermind the retarded logic in your argument, that reminds me. Monopoly actually gets worse the more balanced the game is. Because when someone is winning sure you might seemingly forever slog around the field and eventually that player will win, but if the properties are divided in a way that everyone has roughly the same net gain/loss, the game fucking goes on forever. You fucking empty out the bank as everyone keeps collecting their "pass go" money. Talk about a well designed game, it gets worse the more equal the playing field is.

How am I too harsh on it? It takes forever to finish, is tedious along the way and has barely any meaningful player choice. Which of these points are wrong?

You literally wrote paragraphs on why you hate it. You could have just said I find it boring and left it at that, but you literally attacked people who enjoy it.

>? It takes forever to finish
Play the short variant if it takes too long
Also someone who has to write this much about monopoly does not have valuable time.

I haven't attacked anyone. I have jokingly compared enjoying Monopoly to eating feces, but that's it. And I only wrote a paragraph because the short version () was challenged by people.

This is Jow Forums. If you don't enjoy discussing random shit and telling people how they're wrong on the internet what the fuck are you doing here?

I am telling you you are wrong right now

It actually shares a bunch of Monopoly's problems, namely that it's also pretty tedious and that winners and losers are decided early yet the game still goes on until one player finally grinds out his win, but at least there is some strategy involved. Part of the family of overrated american boardgames but in no way on the same level on the same level as Monopoly.
So yes, it's alright.

Supply and demand buddy, housing in California is expensive because people will pay for it.

Honestly not having to deal with Las Vegas climate is worth a 100% price increase alone

this making trades should be frequent overasking to buy out random properties. the more human element the better the game.

Risk is a terrible game. It's the WW1 of wargames, and not in a good way. Everything is determined by RNG, so despite any kind of strategy you could apply to it, it's just ass. If you want a better wargame, play Axis and Allies.

Attached: illuminopoly game world war 3.jpg (640x319, 62K)

No that is not at all true.

Housing in California is expensive because they throw up all sorts of barriers to making new housing (Green zones/belts, open space laws, density restrictions, building code supplements, endless environmental reviews, california coastal commission compliance, slow growth initiatives, proposition 13 assessments), if California were allowed to respond to market forces it would already have enough units for millions more people.

Just play Risktego. Risk except every dice roll is replaced with a full game of Stratego.

Okay, this is epic.

Are you a retard? That's the whole point.

It's taking the piss out of millenials.

It needs a Tide Pod joke.

No. The rules day that the houses need to be available for purchase. Some nigger house rules people use ignore this and allow people to pay for the 4 houses then the hotel, even if the houses are available.

Corecrion. Houses are not available. So if you have all the houses, people cant build hotels.
