It really depends on the sort of war. Russian military is oriented on land warfare, and is more about defence than about offence. It has piss poor capabilities to project power outside of Russia, as Syria has shown, but in case USA tries to, say, invade Russia with no help from Europe or whomever has a land border with it, it will most likely be BTFO. Not that USA would ever need to invade Russia when it can royally fuck it economically wherever it wants.
