Worked as a cashier in a store for a long time. Noticed myself start rubbing hands.
Merchant syndrome i guess.
Maybe its some weird thing you do when you exchange money etc because your hands get dirty/sweaty.
Its also an easy thing to do when customers are paying, essentially like a nervous tick/somewhere to put your hands while waiting.
