I'm on the journey to embrace God and Jesus Christ into my heart. Before I join a church I want to read the Bible in it's entirety and everyone says that KJV is best translation but the archaic language is hard for me to internalize. Is there a translation in more modern english that doesn't take away the message of scripture?

Christians don't really read the bible. They stop being Christians when they do. It's more about random qoutes to fit your pathetic escapism narrative.
>Rev. John Brown Self Interpreting
exactly
I like reading 2 different versions side by side. I tend to do KJV and some easy to read copy as some of the old english confuses me.
Give it a go;
Sorry OP .. read your post too quickly. The effort required to familiarize yourself with the language of the KJV is worth it in the long run. Unless you're prepared to go back to original texts (hebrew, greek, aramaic) the modern texts (tho' easier to read in. the short term) all tend to fall short.
The Cambridge edition King James Version has been a gold standard of the English bible for over 400 years.

>KJV hard for me to internalize.
Yes, that's how the truth often works. Keep at it.
KJV is a good starter because it's literally Providence and care from Jesus - for a proper English translation for ages.
The new testament is accurate, and the old testament is Septuagint just like God intended and the Christian community since Pentecost till today intended.
It's just very old and archaic - but you'll be able to understand it, just add a new translational layer of understanding in your mind.
If you want good stuff - I really have no clue about old testament Septuagint... use KJV to be safe - but for old testament - use Eastern Orthodox Bible - it's been done by an ex Silicon Valley dude, that decide to suddenly dedicate his life to God.
The entire translation is highly logical, accurate, done by amazing skill in various fields - and extensive use of computer aided methodologies and software - to minimize and eliminate a lot of errors...
The translation is shocking - it's very good - it's like reading koine Greek in modern English full of modern words that reflect old concepts in our modern understanding. Too be they never finished old testament and abandoned it entirely - but I'm pretty sure at least Pentateuch is done.
New International Version is the best translation
You're welcome, OP. One of the nice things about using the pdf Cambridge version (link I sent) is that you can highlight passages (example in pic < ---), make your own notes on the pdf, and quickly move from one area to another with the page field. If you're still wanting to read a more modern version then having the pdf version as a comparison helps you to familiarize yourself with the language of the KJV. This way, over time, you can get more comfortable with the language of the KJV. Eventually, as you get more at ease with the KJV's language it's often the case that people come to appreciate the beauty of the language itself in the KJV. At least that was my experience and hopefully the pdf can help you in that way, too.
No.
NKJV is great.
Most secular Bible readers enjoy it because it is the most lyrical (easiest to memorize)
ESV (followed by NASB) are probably the most literal modern English translations.
Believe, Confess, Repent, Be Saved - then read. Holy Spirit helps a lot. Ephesians: 1:19 & 3:17-21

With this resource you can read a comprehensive, condensed, and doctrinally-sound version of the entire Bible in 1(one) day. Yes, you can have a general understanding of the entire Bible story in 1 day.

Other notable points:
-Research what's known as "NWO Bibles", and the argument for King James Only. (Kent Hovind and Steven Anderson provide great info)
-Look into Pastor Texe Marrs to satisfy your conspiracy theory itches.
-Key points of a proper church/denomination:
>Once Saved Always Saved
>Salvation = Grace through FAITH ALONE
>Jesus is the Son of God, and is God
Said no one ever.
Kek
Literal faggots translated the NIV, they just so happened to leave out word like Sodomite and Lascivious, and implied rape in passages where the woman is clearly a whore or using it for manipulation.
KJV is fucking terrible. This thread just exists to piss me off and I know that but damn if it isn't doing a fine job.
To become truly religious you need to sell your car sell your home empty all of your bank accounts overdraft all your credit cards. Take all this money and give it to your local Televangelist. This will guarantee gods love for you. Every penny you get give to the preacher. You will starve die and go to heaven. Quest complete!!
Wrong. You need to tithe 10% of the first fruits and attempt to give other human beings the gospel. Aka Evangelism.
NO MAN!!! Let these little bible bitches go join there faith. Encourage them to do it! Just a matter of time till they Jihad and kill each other off again!!!! Today there beliefs clash of Facechan and im a twitter. Loonies are killing loonies in churches bombs in Arab country religious places. African slaughter fests while they kneel and pray for protection. The more that join the more will die. The meek will feed the strong lol So run along lil christ mormon muslim jew idiots. Kneel down pray for protection from the gun to your temple and DIE!!!!! Then when the last fool dies we can teach children how religion held us back for centuries. The dark ages will finally end!
Sounds like you are trying to force yourself to become a christian. Come back when it's natural for you.
>" And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God." Luke 4:33-34
ESV is good.
NIV is confirmed a psyop translation; just look at Romans 8:1 in KJV compared to NIV. they just DELETE an entire half of that verse, changing its entire meaning.
KJV is the ONLY safe translation when learning about God. its not that hard to understand, but if you REALLY have trouble, which you must be literally retarded, then use the NKJV
>Proverbs 24:16 - For the righteous one may fall even seven times, and he will certainly get up; but the wicked ones will be made to stumble by calamity.
if you have trouble with old english I suggest listening to Pilgrims Progress, after that I have no trouble
also, sorry for fagposting, does the Cambridge edition use the proper Names of God? modern KJV has redacted the name of God some 6k times.
Read them all and compare them.
Then check the Greek and the Hebrew and the Aramaic....

i miss the days when being an atheist was a capital crime
nonsense. when you are training to spot counterfeit money you do not study counterfeits, you study the real bill to spot a fake when you see it. same with bible.
NASB '77 is the translation that is the most true to the original languages.
But you know what? That doesn't even matter that much. What matters the most of all is the core message.
Good luck on your journey, God bless you user.

I use Douay Rheims and NRSV though I keep a few other translations around too to make comparison notes.

Get this book. It's the King James version but has study notes throughout. A must have for any Christian.
Is that really good advice? Is there ever a bad time to start?
Get a Strong's Concordance and START READING.
Look up Strongs Concordance. Download the Bible App and it comes with the KJV free along with a KJV with Strogs concordance if you sign up I think. The concordance is to familiarize yourself with the Hebrew and Greek of the words used in the Bible to get a deeper meaning than surface level reading.

Orthodox study is the absolute pinnacle of Biblical editions.
>Christians don't learn the parables of their Lord
Did I just fall for bait?
Noyce, good save.
KJV is easier to understand if you read along with a dramatized narration and it gets easier to understand as you go through it since you start to learn old english through context. Most translations are fine if you want the general story as you can still learn from them. If you're hardcore you will cross reference everything with the hebrew and greek text to make sure you missed nothing.
Seconded. It's the most accessible translation that successfully preserves the nuance of the KJV.
>Before I join a church
Research well, not many good churches left, jews have subverted Christianity since WW2, pic and vid related
Tell everyone, spread The Word anyway that you can. There isn't much time now. Tell the people you love as soon as you can. Ask them if they are in The Word everyday. Help them. If you love them, help them. Don't wait.
If you want to understand what goes into translating ancient texts, then I recommend that you pick up some latin, greek or hebrew, and try to translate some old texts. I only truly understood the process and difficulties after studying latin and translating roman texts. Different languages may contain language constructs that do not exist in your language.
For some examples, see
en.m.wikipedia.org
Some christian doctrines rely on a specific TAM that isn't possible to unambiguously translate to e.g. english. If you read a translation you will not see this.
However, for just the stories and narratives, I would recommend the Bible that you feel has the best "flow" when reading. It should be comfortable.
Furthermore, I recommend these lectures:

Orthodox Study Bible
Excellent recommendation
dont fall for the kike shills OP, Orthodoxy/Catholocism was literally created by jews to kill Christians.
Just read the emoji bible, its way easier to understand that you only get the victory royal and go to heaven if you dab on the devil.
When there is sufficient evidence for the claim. Would you have faith you wouldnt get hit by a vehicle if you ran across a highway in the dark?
Kjv is a good version but niv is nice for a more easier to explain version. Glad to see you come to Christ
Ah yeah you're right shlomo, guess I'll remain a hard agnostic for the rest of my life. Off to the strip club, later.
