I came to the same conclusion. They are information containment agents. They use these tactics: 1) FUD 2) Attacking the messenger in order to discredit the message (ad-hominem) 3) Noise (like you said, detracting attention from Israel it self, sliding boards) 4) Censorship (AI on SM, having the SM companies in their pocket and their personnel black mailed, and those against them unable to find work on those, like the google guy, FB, twatter, etc).
The only winning option is to keep the heat on Israel, and get the facts about it out. They don't want that because it damages general public support of Israel. Their mission is to avoid that, but until that happens, the US is a vasal state of Israel, paying them in tax payer money and tech for the privilege of getting crimes against their citizens committed upon them, in their own country. Israel is a parasite.
