If you've been under general anesthetic that is pretty much what death is like as it's basically bringing you as close to death as possible. Personally it felt like the best sleep I had in years, it's surprisingly welcoming.

i've always thought that the best description one will ever get to know before it happens is this: what it was like "before" you were born is just what it will be like after you die. do you remember "darkness" or whatever then? no, and it doesn't make any sense to talk about it as there was no such thing as consciousness for you then.
