When I watch normie media like Fox, it boggles my mind how obsessed they are with this idea of "taking the high ground" by being passive and basically taking abuse. Every mainstream Republican candidate seems obsessed with it too. Its like they're all trying to "turn the other cheek", even if it means they're constantly losing and refusing to fight the enemy. It's all virtue signalling, and it made me realize that "conservatives" have been bullied into basically accepting every liberal value and idea (men and women are equal, race doesn't matter, all religions are equal and believe the same things, etc). They're all virtue signalling just as much as progressives do, they're just virtue signalling in a different way.
Finally an interesting discussion thread. Recently I've been thinking the same thing. I see it a lot on shows like Ingraham and Hannity, even Tucker. They're ALWAYS giving examples of horrible behavior from the left--perfect example, the leftists' dismay over Avenatti's arrest, and their unwillingness to treat him the same way they treated Kavanaugh, "guilty until proven innocent." The fabled double standard, hypocrisy, however you want to describe it. There's always this shocked "oh my!" response from the right-wing commentators, and then they always repeat, again and again, "WE don't do that! Look at them!"
It's like they're trying to program the right not to win. "Nice guys finish last" is a meme because it's true.
None of them ever just says, "wow, these Dems will do ANYTHING to win, and that probably means they WILL win, because we are too nice. They're also always vaguely uncomfy with the way Trump, when smacked, immediately smacks back. One guy on Fox, I forget who--the other day, he said something to the effect of "I've just learned to ignore that." OP is right, it's a huge vulnerability on the right. Imho we need to do whatever we need to do to win. Given what's at stake here, this resolution cannot possibly be more important.
Lindsey Graham is one of the few conservative, Republican politicians who gets this. I think that happened at the Kavanaugh hearings. He was already becoming unchained due to McCain's death, but he's really changed a lot since Kavanaugh.
