There was no country at the time ergo there could be no immigration. A lot of land was unclaimed and the land that was was localized tribal territory.
Europeans who began to colonise the continent may've over stepped by incorporating territory that had already been claimed, but they didn't emigrate to another country because it was they who founded the country in the first place.

Another area the argument falls short is; by equating immigrants to colonists you're just reinforcing the idea that unchecked immigration will inevitably lead to the replacement of the naturalized or native citizens.
