Welding is tailor made and making a proper weld takes precision that robots can't make. It's gonna be a long time before the tech to do that comes out. I'm an auto mechanic and can almost put a car together from the ground up. There's gonna be automation for some area's of the field and already is for diagnostics but cars are another thing that can't be maintained and repaired solely by machines, again not for a long time at least.

This isn't something I want to be doing into my 40s I'll admit so that's why I'm trying to save up as much money as I can to retire in a foreign country.

This is why I avoided the trades at first. Now I'm in them, and I've pretty much given up on ever getting married because of it. The stigma is real. Guys compensate by roiding, but it never keeps women around.

I'm specifically learning 5 axis CNC machining and its honestly less physical work and more learning how to build the parts in 3d environments and then programming the tools to do the work for you.

I make pretty good money, more than most of my peers. The only downside is it's extremely boring so you have to constantly travel and change jobs to keep life interesting. I save almost all of my money so sometimes in between jobs I'll move to a new state/country and take a few months off from working and just do neet shit.
I'm either doing Alaska or Japan next year. If I do a contract in alaska I can make 100k in three months.
