Northern Queens is actually the best area to live in NYC. Nice 1- to 2-family homes, family friendly, conservative (even if they vote Dem), very little crime or filth. Did I mention it's mostly European & East Asian (Chinese & Korean). Problem is that the other half of the boro is shit.

You are my man, and it will only get worse. I'm in Northern Queens too, and I know there are bunch of us legal gun owners. Bad thing is you can't touch a pistol in the 5 boros (it's a felony), and I can't take my pistol to a LI range to show NYers the basics. But ask a few Nassau or Suffolk buddies if they can take you to a range in LI (liek Calverton).
Then put in your paperwork to get one. But it will take 6 months and like $500 (plus you'll need to then buy a gun).

I'm close to Astoria. Besides the paperwork and cost bullshit, at least I can buy any handgun I want (as long as it comes with a 10-round magazine). Problem is I can't buy most decent rifles (all ARs and AKs are explicitly banned in the city).

All kidding aside, there are a ton of neighborhoods to have a good time and get laid. In the city, I'd say meatpacking & k-town, in Brooklyn Williamsburg, and in Queens LIC/Astoria. If you're looking for dive bars and ethnic bitches to fuck, find the neighborhoods that are their "ghettos". Example, if you want a cheap night out and the ability to bed a Latina, go to Roosevelt in Queens.
