Underage drinker in need of legal advice

I'm 18 yrs old and was IDed by undercovers at a music festival. I live in AZ and was charged with ARS- 4 244 9. I blew a 0.000 though I did have a cors light in my hands.
My court date is may 8th, and this a first offense for me.
What should I be doing? I have about $1200 and I don't want to tell my parents no matter what.
I'm legitimately concerned about a criminal record affecting my ASU scholarship, jail time, and a blemish on my record.

You'll probably get probation as a plea deal. But I could be wrong.
>if supervised by a person on the premises who is at least eighteen years of age, package or carry merchandise, including spirituous liquor, in unbroken packages,

Lawyer up nigga

I was with a few older people, but I don't want to incriminate them.

Idk OP. I'm feeling off rn.

This. Lawyer up. Since you don't have funds for private counseling, you may be eligible for public defender. It's free and best thing you can do in your situation.

How does this work? Can you get a public defender for a 'small' case like this? Like, I'm not sure what steps to take before the court date.

Hopefully you’re eligible for a PD. Go to your college’s student legal services office and ask for help.
>I'm legitimately concerned about a criminal record affecting my ASU scholarship, jail time, and a blemish on my record.
You aren’t going to jail. You’ll get a fine and get yelled at. It won’t affect your financial aid eligibility because it wasn’t drugs. And nobody cares about your record, even for law school.

Go to student legal services or the ASU law school legal aid clinic and ask for help, ask who you need to be contacting.

Yes. Go to the court where you've been assigned to go to and ask for a public defender. They will ask you questions about your income and case, and will assign you one.

Remember your rights. You have the right to legal representation and the right to remain silent. Cite your 5th amendment privilege against self incrimination and respectfully decline to answer any questions in the case you're interviewed by a detective/cop. ONLY talk to your lawyer.

You played yourself, it will likely cost you your scholarship

You deserve it for drinking coor's

So glad our police force and taxes are out there to stop disgusting piece of shit criminals like yourself.

>land of the free
>don't let people drink until 3 years after they can vote
>give underage drinkers criminal records instead of warnings

Best America is still better than whatever shithole you live in buddy.

>get molested to board planes for domestic flights
>go through metal detectors to enter schools
>live under surveillance by own government
>at least I don't live in one of those shithole countries

I've never had TSA put a hand on me while boarding a flight. I've even had my bad pulled aside a few times for transporting work equipment but they were pretty friendly with me.

Most schools don't have metal detectors... I would say the ones that do are in the vast minority.

CCTV isn't really a thing here.

Basically all your assumptions about America are incredibly inaccurate. By most metrics this is the best country in the entire world on average. Of course we aren't the best for some things but over a broad spectrum this is still the best place in the world ya dum dum.

I doubt it... anyway I carry myself.

I was in the same situation as you, except in Florida. My parents didn't know until the county sent a notice to my home address that they were rescheduling my court date right in the middle of spring break.

I was extremely nervous, but during the first court date (arraignment?) they gave me and about 10 other people deferred prosecution. We had to pay a court fee of 100 dollars and either work 10 hrs community service or 100 dollars donation to a charity, and to not get in any trouble with the law for like a year. The charges were dropped and it essentially never happened, I think I only have to disclose it to govt agencies.

Hopefully it is similar in Arizona. Btw, school never found out

>feels the need to carry a gun for protection
>insists country isn't a shithole

>implying carrying a gun is solely for protection
It's a right I'm allowed. Besides I go to the range a couple times a week so I always have a gun with me...America is awesome, get over it butthurt fag.

This is extremely likely to happen. They just want the fine money.

>implying a country full of people this arrogant somehow isn't horrible
>implying other countries don't have guns just because they have sensible controls on which people can have them

Hopefully, this is the case for me. OP here.
I'm sure plenty of people got IDed. 30,000 people attended.
Also, this is a middle of nowhere town. Maybe the court is lax.
My older brother told me not to worry about it.

Don't talk to the police

Holy Christ the USA is hilarious. You're able to purchase firearms at the age of 18 and can sign up as an IED decoy in some Middle-Eastern shithole, but get criminalized for drinking some beer at that age.

Free universities.
Universal healthcare.
Ability to pick more than 2 gov parties.
Fluoride.

Why cant you tell your parents?
Why would a university care at all?
I have so many questions.
One time when i was 18 a cop saw me walking down the street beer in hand and made me pour it out. I was livid about what a fucking nanny state I live in.

>most metrics
That is immensely false. I love America. But just no no and no. Standard of living? Nope. Median income? Nope. Economic freedom? Nope. Civil liberties? Nope. Natural beauty, nope. Architecture, nope. Education nope. Only reason I'd live there is because some places are cheap as fuck. But you guys have weird thinking about this. Like you think Canada is a socialist shithole even though they rank higher in all economic freedom charts.

>ONLY talk to your lawyer.

Fucking this. Even if you didn't do anything you shouldn't just talk to cops, they are looking for shit to incriminate you, not be your best, understanding friend.

>America is awesome
hey retard try leaving your flyover state shithole and go to another country . you statement might be true, but at this point american is absolutely fucking NOT the 'most awesome' not even by a longshot
