Yes. Men usually cheat for extramarital sexual intercourse, not because of emotional destitution. Most men who cheat are not doing so with the intention of divorcing their wife. Women, on the other hand, cheat on an emotional level, long before they actually bed the other man. Thus, one is focused upon carnal fulfilment, the other on a fresh new intimacy.

That’s an interesting way of looking at it. It seems like an impossible paradox, if a man is competent enough to keep a women emotionally invested, he’s likely to have a lot of attractive offers of sex from outside women. Since it’s impossoble to shut off the biological drive of multiple partners for men, it seems like a rigged game.

This to me seems inaccurate. With most women, this is true. However, in my own experience, I've found that women cheat for purely carnal reasons just as much as men do. For instance, if the husband has money, the wife may cheat because she isn't sexually attracted to him, and wants to have her sexual needs fulfilled extra-maritally. If the man has no money, she may cheat simply to find a man through the process of dating, and fucking around to find a man who does have money. And of course, often enough you're exactly right, and they do cheat purely for emotional validation.
