I do work with small autonomous vehicles and use convolutional neural networks and this tech is a pipe dream with current and near future (next 20 years) tech. Good luck fitting a GPU that can handle your vision model on something that small any time soon. Good luck with your swarm controller without it being jammed. Most drone companies are literally too stupid to do the math to implement an H2/Hinf robust control algorithm and they still use PID or maybe LQG if you're lucky.

This is still more in the realm of scifi than reality and don't let the hubris of Silicon Valley fool you.

we're going to need enormous leaps in computing power to get AI to do anything worthwhile past applying a funny filter to selfies, and then we have to scale it down to quantum levels to actually weaponize it. AI hype is just trying to keep facebook stock priced up.

it's more realistic to use AI to engineer biological agents. look at this year's nobel prizes. why bother with robots or nanobots even if you can engineer custom self-replicating viruses.
