to play devils advocate i guess that it could lead to unforeseen negative consequences. For example, selecting for light skin will increase skin cancer risk. There’s really no way to know what kind of genetic damage can be done, for all we know selecting for one gene that say leads to red hair might also hypothetically lead to lower sperm count in the individual. We just don’t know enough about the complexity of genetics to play god.
