Natural-selection and sexual-selection aren't quite the same thing. And sexual-selection depends to a great degree on which gender is doing the selecting.

If men are doing the selecting, they will generally seek more feminine features. And if women are doing the selecting, they will generally seek more masculine features.

Obviously factors like marriage, especially of the monogamous and life-long variety, will have an effect on how selection occurs, who will be left-out, etc.

Basically, men will fuck almost anything, but they won't marry just anything. And if they live in a cold-climate where females keep mostly-covered except for their face, then facial-attractiveness will take greater precedence.

Yes, men tend to be attracted to femininity. White women are probably the best embodiment of femininity. East Asian women are also feminine, but they generally don't have the body of a woman.

But, there is also sexual-imprinting. You tend to be most-attracted to people who look like yourself or the people you grew up with, but with feminine characteristics.

So if you're a black guy who was adopted by a white family and grew up in a mostly-white neighborhood, you'll tend to be attracted to white women.

Likewise, if you're a white guy raised in a mostly-black environment, it would be common for you to be attracted to the kind of women you saw, especially in early pubescence.

So if masculinity is "favored", then it will generally mean the traits that make both men and women more-masculine with be selected. If femininity is favored, it will mean the traits that make both men and women more-feminine will be selected.

Compared to other primates, humans are actually very "maternal" or "feminine".

You could end up with greater sexual-domorphism in terms of femininity/masculinity. Where the men are hyper-masculine and the females are hyper-feminine, but the sexual-dimorphism in humans isn't nearly as great as gorillas, for obvious reasons.

For instance, why are Asians so small? Well, it seems to be that there was less biological demand for being bigger. The larger you are, the most food you need to live. It was more-beneficial to have "more hands" for the same amount of food, than bigger hands. Also, East Asia was a highly "patriarchal" society for thousands of years. In a patriarchal society, men tend to do most of the selecting.
