If I'm not mistaken, Orcs aren't even a 'race' themselves, since Tolkien made it pretty clear in the Silmarillion that evil couldn't create, only corrupt and mock. Tolkien went out his way to explain/retcon orcs as being actively corrupted and twisted by Morgoth and co, since as a devout catholic Tolkien couldn't agree with the idea of someone being damned from birth.
I could definitely be wrong though, since there's just so much fucking speculation going on with Tolkien's works. Either way, fuck Wired.
