Orthodoxy

I am considering converting to Russian or Greek orthodoxy because I feel god is missing in my life.
From what ive seen in my research it seems pretty based and very traditional.
I know im not going to find a meaning for life, a loving woman, or spirituality in bars or on tinder.
What do you think bros?
Is this just some weird urge im having because life in this society is plastic and empty or could having a relationship with God help?
Have you had this feeling?

Sorry if this sounds a little daft, but are you already a Christian?

I was raised a Christian but because it was forced on me I rejected it.

>become wandering healing Siberian holy man
>befriend strongest family in Russian Empire
>cure the Tsar's son
>make prophecies on end of Empire and death and shits

The keks I would have if i became Rasputin 2.0

There's the American Orthodox Church go there.

No fucking point for you to go to Russian of Greek ones - because those are ones immigrants brought from hone to keep their union with God in foreign lands, their services are in languages you don't speak.

Don't become Christian to join a "based" or "redpilled" denomination. Become Christian so you can accept Jesus Christ as your savior and avoid an eternity in the lake of fire.
Read the Bible cover to cover and get saved friend.
Christianity isn't a denomination, a church, a priest/pastor/patriarch, etc.
It's accepting that we are all sinners that deserve hell and only through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus can we ONLY get to Heaven.
Salvation is a free gift to all that seek it.

Yeah but id be willing to learn the liturgies in said language to keep tradition.
Haven't looked into the American orthodox church, are they any better than most american Christians?

Like with the majority of Christian/Abrahamic religions, so since you never accepted Christianity, the first things first you need to accept Christianity to allow it to enter your hear.

The church doesn’t really matter user, all that matters is that you have faith in god and listen to only him.
But anyways yeah the Orthodox Church is pretty comfy

i think you'll find that the KGB has not existed for almost 30 years

I believe in God.
I just want to find a denomination that I feel comfortable in.

I don't understand the logic behind this. I was raised Christian as well, but I never felt like I was being forced into it. I always did things willingly. But to answer your question yeah having a relationship with God helps exponentially. I'm just saying once the blackpills get to you, you have to realise the only things you have are you and God. I'd say the best thing is get a good foundation like that and build up your life from there. God is the basis so just build up from there. Good luck user. God Bless.

Tradition has nothing to do with the language, it's symbols and ideas. All of it that is written, scriptures, canons, early prayers and translated and written down for you in English.

Go to American Orthodox Churches - I'm not eating shit, on average your orthodox Churches there are more spiritual than our average city church here...
And trust me i'm obsessed with Christianity and orthodoxy.

Basically as an orthodox you want to keep two cultures - the monastic and the Orthodox way of life. The monastic travel to Mt. Athos, read Athonite literature and so on - and you're set... the Orthodox way of life - you've already got it in English form - just check your local Orthodox Chruch around 2 mil of Americans if not more are Orthodox.

Usually your average Orthodox American Christian - is an ex protestant w/e that studied hard, a versed intellectual that has a real thirst and desire to know the True God - so yea I'd say the quality of their being fibre is something stronger.

Orthodox Christian here. I would recommend going to a Greek Orthodox Church to start with because there is a greater chance the liturgy will be in English.

It's not hard to go to one service and see what you think. After the service make sure you talk to the priest, he will probably offer a catechism class to you if you seem interested or if they are hosting one currently.

I understand that
But I honestly just wish to be a part of a community and maybe find companionship with someone with morals.
Our society is barren of tradition and spirituality.

Are you one of those retards that think Orthodoxy was founded by Russians?

>nothing else required
what if i am acutely aware of God, feel his presence throughout the day, know jesus to be god incarnate, hate degeneracy, and started going to church. I can't stop smoking weed, being lazy, and thus deeply disappointing my parents, almost to the point of heartbreak. what the fuck is my retarded problem? I havent fapped all month ever since i saw those xhamster tweets, and know i will never come back to porn. I'm going to the gym first thing in the morning tomorrow for the first time in a long time. can any anons whove overcome a weed addiction help me out?

Romans 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Does that say some? No, ALL have sinned.
Only Jesus Christ lived a sinless life.
Read the Bible, seriously.
>but I fap, smoke weed, etc.
Do you even know the life Saul/Paul lived before he became one of the greatest teachers of faith in Jesus?
Trust in Jesus friend. The LORD hates sin, but loves the sinner.
We live in a fallen world and if there was ANY chance that our good deeds could get us into Heaven then the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross was meaningless.
God knows that we are a sinful people and sent his only son as a sacrifice so that whosoever believes on him will not burn in the lake of fire.

I plan to this Sunday.

>nothing to do with language
>its symbols and ideas
>language
>symbols and ideas

I for one think scripture should have a language of it's own. Nothing wrong with translations, but reciting scripture in one's native language is boring

I dare anyone to explain to me how the thief on the cross made it to Heaven.
>wasn't baptized
>was literally moments away from dying after living a sinful wicked life
>didn't join a church
>never kissed or prayed to any icons
>never took part in any of the sacraments

None of that.

What DID he do?

He BELIEVED on the only begotten Son of God.

He recognized the sacrifice of God in the flesh that hung on the cross beside him.

And he made it to Heaven.

Galatians 2:16 ESV

Yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.

inb4 recursive reference

I've actually thought of the same.

I'm kind of agnostic and I'm from a Protestant country.

However, the Protestant church is pretty cuck and without much spirit. It's basically just serving as a service for baptizing and burying people.

And for me Catholism is not an option. The Catholic Church is cucked, super corrupt and abuse children on a huge scale as well as covering it up.

That leaves Orthodox Church.

It do indeed seem to be the most based branch of Christianity, and it might have sufficient with atmosphere and spirit to actually serve as a way to feel some void, in a way the Protestant Church can't.

I'll still need to research it s little more though.

I've also thought about Paganism, but it doesn't seem properly established.

Regardless if one is a strong believe or not. The need for tradition, ceremonies, weddings, funerals etc is still s real need.

By the way, are Orthodox priests allowed to be married in the different branches of Orthodox Church? The info I find on this question seem to vary.

I'm pro married priests

Been thinking about converting also. Local Orthodox church lists mass times but no where on their site is anything about their confession times. Have not stepped in a Catholic Church in a few months since the scandal broke and Vigano spoke the truth. Should I go this Sunday and check the bulletin or email their Proistamenos just to check?
Also could any Orthobros explain to me how Cathlicucks are wrong on the filioque?

The orthidox church is the one branch of Christianity which has not been infected with the western virus. It suffered for a century at the hands of the communists, and was the bedrock of russia before and after. If you are looking for a chirch in good faith I would immediately recommend the orthodox, but remember that it is not a matter of making the right movements or saying the right words. It comes down to your own faith and fire: by faith alone are we saved.

Check out your potential priest. I know of one greek ortho priest who willingly marries homofags.

>be catholic
>worship a pedo
>be protestant
>worship Gods' son while misinterpreting everything he said
>be orthodox
>worship God
Dunno user, they all look equal to me :^)

religion is a red herring youtu.be/rVcxIamwO5g

My in-laws are Greek Orthodox and are a bunch of self-righteous aholes.
They go to church for social hour and old people Facebook/person to person mingling.
They don't go for God or take anything in the bible serious.
Mother-in-law accused me of being a bad husband and accused my parents of things when she's never spoken or met them.
Fuck the Greeks.
I used to think maybe they were okay, not no more.

Baptist churches tend to be very scripturally aware, in my experience. I consider myself one, if anything, but normally just refer to myself Christian, alone.

probably won't go well for you if you're not of one of the predominantly ortho ethnic groups

Is it really that strange to be an outsider ethnicity, going to one of those churches? Isn't it a bit like a non-Jew converting to Orthodox Judaism, more or less, or are they much more welcoming? Christianity is meant to be welcoming. I would have assumed that they would, likewise, have that attitude, but what are your experiences?
