This is accurate except for the 14% of the population. The vast majority of those crimes are committed by men, aged 15-45. So like 4% of the population.

Another scenario is that a deranged looking vicious pit bull with slobbering jowls and deep growls approaches. All prior experience and news reports of mauling quickly flood your senses. The mother pulls her handgun and pops the pitbull 3 times before it can injure you or your family.
