They aren't getting hit by anyone, they're closing factories that are tooled to build vehicles no one is buying. What are you going to tell the white house and auto workers union "Yeah we're going to keep building 100K impalas and sonics a year when we sell less than half of them, and bankrupt the company again so either the tax payers bail it out or everyone gets fired"? GM and Ford build SUVs exclusively now, so will everyone else, car culture is officially on it's way to dead now though so that's a thing.

GM is also shutting a number of plants down in Canada with this move, how is Trump responsible for a constriction in Canadian manufacturing, too? Perhaps this is the result of bad business decisions on the part of GM and not a result of Trump's policies? Either way, though, it's about time we nationalize GM.

Actually he did, especially in the US steel manufacturing sector. GM closing down plants that make sedans no one was buying has nothing to do with Trump. More plants are being shut down in Canada than the US with this move, so if we're going to blame a head of state, it has to be Trudeau.

There's only a limited, finite demand for automobiles, just because you make them doesn't mean they'll be bought. The market is pretty heavily saturated already.

The problem is is that they build incredibly shitty cars.

I'll give the ford fusion as an example: So many electrical problems and they don't even know what the hell is wrong with it. The model has been in production for 10 years at this point and they still cant fix simple shit.

Power steering was a problem from like 2010-2014, and it still is a major issue. On the 2012 model, it would just go out randomly when you are doing 50 on the highway. They just kept slapping a coat of paint on their sedans/compacts, saying its brand new, and now nobody even touches their sedans/compacts because they fucked their reputation on it and no one is giving them a chance anymore.

Pretty soon it'll happen to their pick-ups and mid-size cars too.

There is only so much you can do before the CEO's and Upper Management who got in through the buddy system and 'networking' who don't even know how to run a company before they golden parachute out into another company before it tanks.

In the 80's/90's it was hostile takeovers, chopping up companies and selling them to larger ones. But that was too much work. Now they get in, try to implement Sigma Six/Lean/fire anyone competent because it'll make them look bad and just collect a paycheck and wait until its about to go tits up before they network to another one. This is what happens to companies with revolving door leadership and nepotism.

Ford survived a great depression, two world wars and countless recessions, and it won't survive Boomer management. That should scare any sane person.
