This guy. Grigori Voitinsky. He joined the Bolshevik Party in 1918 at the age of 25. Two years later the USSR established the Far East Bureau in Siberia, which was a branch of the Comintern (Third Communist International) which itself was a government organization advocating for the global spread of Communism.
Only two years later, he was working in Beijing to establish the Chinese branch of Comintern. How did he do this? There was a newspaper in China set up by Soviet leaning Russians. Grigori and others arrived in the spring and claimed to be editors for the paper. What they did was establish the spread of communist ideas in China, covertly. This lead to a revolution that destroyed the China that was. Later in life he moved back to Russia, leaving China to its revolution and communism - But not without continued influence from Comintel and the USSR. His colleagues at the Shanghai Chronicle remained, spreading Bolshevism.
This is interesting, because do you want to wager a guess at what the full name of the Shanghai Chronicle mentioned in Voitinsky's Wikipedia page is?
