Freemasonry is a specific European (mostly French/English/Italian) occult group founded by the remnants of the Templars after the Middle Ages and officially become a sect in the 1700s. As far as people saying it is "against Christianity" i dont recall anything in there going against the teachings of Christianity, in fact a lot of the teachings of Jesus have a Hermetic origin if you pay close attention
