No one will care about the fact that you took non-degreed courses (coursera etc). That said, you absolutely need to know the things you probably learned from those courses, so they'll care about the knowledge you get instead.

What it really comes down to is that your chem. engineering degree seems to be too far outside what finance stuff usually look for. Maybe try applying for an internship. And don't try to apply for JPMorgans or the likes, try maybe Big4 accounting firm's M&A departments.

I did furniture making as a trade but am not in it anymore, own a business in a related field but it was the time of my life, i still have a pretty decent workshop, just no time.
