Beach cities such as Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and to some lesser extend Redondo Beach are nice "as such."

I avoid LA like the plague because I am scared for my life when I go up there. I'm scared the illegals will rob or murder me. Many such cases over the past 30 years where they tried to rob or otherwise cause violent harm to me.

Long Beach here. It's nice if you live in the suburbs. Once you get deep into LB where there are more apartments than houses you're fucked. There are definitely areas around where I wouldn't go out at night. But for the most part you can avoid these areas.
