Any Ham Radio Operators Here?

Anyone here using ham radio to redpill the world or stay in touch when the civil war kicks off or just want a method of free speech when all the internet sites go 1984?

It might be good to protect free speech, but literally no one uses Ham radio anymore.

>literally no one uses Ham radio anymore.
Not true. And to dd we've been building some all-digital/encrypted stuff.

We'll be the only way to communicate if all the shit goes down.

Are you an operator? Or just taking a stab about the topic?

What's a good and advanced, but cheap one you can get?

no

It is very popular from what I hear... I ordered a handheld portable today and want to build a repeater on my hill.

I was studying a book for a tech license, but it's so fucking boring I can't even muddle through it. Seems like a boring hobby for boring people.

Whoever thought it was a good idea to build a radio out of ham was a fucking genius.

Greetings, commodore

This is the prepper must have SHTF for dirt cheap and rugged.

I've held a Extra for over 30 years.

Yeah. Not for you.

Are operators mostly redpilled or mixed? Is there political chatter? Wondering how to find people like minded.

>BaoFeng
Their front ends' (the filtering and rcv amps) tend to be sloppy and overload easily.
Better to buy a used GOOD brand like and Icom, Yeasu or Kenwood.

are you kidding? repeaters in the US are swarming of Jow Forums autists and old farts in general

Mostly redpilled.

You can use a modem over the radio and talk directly to other Ham operators, thereby avoiding the net altogether. US Government still maintains some sites, but they aren't ready to go, are in disrepair. Civil Defense was taken out by the Jews, They didn't want any Whites to survive. They always attack and label preppers and survivalists. Jew wants you to depend solely on them and electronic money, stay dependent, live hand to mouth. That way you are controlled. Only a cuck would be against an independent communication system that uses the airwaves.

>want to build a repeater
Please be careful. VHF and up can be VERY dangerous at higher outputs.

yankee nigger faggot asshole retard

Thanks, I am just regurgitating what I read online. This one is in my Amazon cart. BaoFeng BF-F8HP (UV-5R 3rd Gen) 8-Watt Dual Band Two-Way Radio I will check out... IIcom, Yeasu or Kenwood.

>use a modem
We call them TNC's.
And some of mine are advanced enough to do h/w based encryption.

You seem smart so what's with the gay meme flag?

How does this work? How about costs?

What's a good handheld radio to own for ham? Baofeng please, Yaesu is too $$$ for a poorfag like me.

This

>gay meme flag?
I love to stir the shit. Always been a smartass.
Get people all worked up then watch them get rekt.
Also, I'm an EE.

>but it's so fucking boring
youre just a brainlet, stick to playing candy crush on your phone, bud

I never used it, but it seems to be the entry unit most sold for minimum dollars. But someone posted above, it is not the best.

why the memeflags....

There, better?

>brainlet

>because talking to some old faggot in Omaha, from your house in Assneck, Nevada about his ham radio equipment over a ham radio is intellectually stimulating.

To piss off leftist commie socialist fuckwads.

You can't talk on shortwave on those though right? Is that a big deal? Not very familiar with how it all works.

What does it do to you? How far away should it be?

>he thought this was a good post

Years ago the early adopters of high powered uhf/vhf was the railroads operations people.
They started seeing a trend of bad vision/blindness and diagnosed it back to optic nerve damage.

Nobody uses the term "shortwave" anymore..LOL

medium wave or HF

When disasters strike, power and internet go out. Even if not in your area, the power company kills everything regionally to keep first responders safe. It is not just a hobby. Many people use the ham radio to monitor police and fire during these times.

There may be, out of all the products pofung/baofeng I think they sell 1 or maybe 2 radios that are fcc approved and you can register as your device. without that there really isnt anything you can do with it. you ant even use it legally on FRS frequencies because it has a removable antenna and those frequencies are .5watts and the radios only turn down to 3 watts on low.
still so cheap i had to see for myself since you can get one for 25bucks and up and now have several.

>How far away should it be?
This is FAR too complex a thing to condense into a chat on here.

ham radio is cucked af and you can't do anything fun on it

the basic knowledge is good to have

Attached: merchantskykangtroll.jpg (743x924, 274K)

looking for real not fun. I can still photoshop Tay into weird shit on a computer for fun.

Attached: tay_asle.jpg (1280x720, 170K)

it's a piece of shit and illegal to transmit with in the US (unless something changed in the last year)

apparently you can contact the international space station with a ham

no it will soon be illegal to import them at all
it may already be as of OCT

>you can't do anything fun on it
Yeah, it was SOOOOO boring to work the 3 shuttle mission special event stations.

So not cool talking to fucking astronauts.

yeah sorry I really do not know first hand.. I just read boards where they said it was the most common first radio and it was rugged.

You’re retarded as fuck. Plenty of people use HF waves.
Isn’t it illegal to use encryption without government consent?

you can, i hear them talking to people all the time

Attached: United_States_Frequency_Allocations_Chart_2016_-_The_Radio_Spectrum.pdf.jpg (6300x4031, 3.75M)

its not a good starter because you cant register it as your device legally so you cant use it at all period.

>Isn’t it illegal to use encryption without government consent?
To obscure communications? Yes.
As an "experimental mode"? Legal

sorry lad i don't have autism

but if talking to astronauts is your thing, good for you.

>illegal to encrypt
>illegal to be user
>illegal to speak plainly
>illegal to transmit without a license
>need to find a meatspace to take a test
>become a government lapdog

You can make a radio signal with a raspberry pi zero
youtube.com/watch?v=GXedC5dQyNk

>you cant register it as your device
Nobody in America registers their radio gear.

Please, stop.

>illegal to transmit without a license
yeah, we need retards who have no clue what theyre doing playing with high voltages.
should be fun to watch

>we have detected someone transmitting in a manner we find to be slightly against regulations

>better assemble the G-Team

>cue 6 old men triangulating your position and turning you into the fcc for a 10k fine because you dared encroach on their autistic hobby

The luminosity is great with this one.

>because you cant register it
u fookin wat m8?

Attached: IC-7300.jpg (1600x722, 207K)

you have to register a device when you get your ham ticket

>>illegal to encrypt - TRUE
>>illegal to be user - TRUE
>>illegal to speak plainly - HALF-TRUTH
>>illegal to transmit without a license - TRUE
>>need to find a meatspace to take a test - Get out of your moms basement once in a while
>>become a government lapdog - DUMB SHIT

Survival of the fittest, lad

>you have to register a device when you get your ham ticket
No, you fucking moron. You do NOT

not a fan of regulation but i see why its needed

Shit really. Is this just states that chose to ban it or federal wide.

I know little to nothing about the hobby but being a consumerist piece of filth I like to buy things I might need one day. Not exactly a prepper but I can see learning the ins and outs and having a set up might come in handy if shit hits the fan one day. I'm on a property with plenty of room etc so curious what would you recommend looking at to get into it and what to buy etc.

>EE
Good. We need people like you, so stay the fuck alive.

>federal wide.
F.C.C.
So....federal. Because of their low quality and inability to meet standards.
FYI, stuff for public service (cops/firemen/etc) have even MORE stringent standards.

looking to set up a DMR repeater and internet network and learning a little each day.
Have 2 ailunce hd1's but need a basestation

>so stay the fuck alive.
My family lineage tends to run into near 100 ages.

Any transmission is easily traced. You won't have free speech if an opponent doesn't want you to have it.

>ailunce hd1
nice, i like mine. why do you need a base station dmr?

Not illegal to encrypt simlpex I think.

>Any transmission is easily traced
I can link to a remote transceiver and even have 2 linked together.

They would run around like fucking window-lickers trying to figure WTF is going on.

simplex even lol

That's what I got. Better than nothing.

I thought encryption was considered warfare similar to trafficking arms.

Honestly, who gives a fuck people should be able to do what they want without having a fucking nanny state watching over their shoulder at all times.

But don’t you just put yourself on a list that the government needs in case they want to come confiscate your shit?

>I thought encryption was considered warfare similar to trafficking arms.
Not as an "experiment", no.

just to network off the internet (incase it goes down),chain repeaters fill in gaps etc

>But don’t you just put yourself on a list that the government needs in case they want to come confiscate your shit?

Why would they come to take my gear?
They can sit and listen to me on 20 and 40 every night.

Bingo

They wouldnt give a fuck but the thing is arms dealers ,drug dealers and serious organised crime could encrypt and thats dangerous for society as a whole.
They should let you encrypt if you supply them with the hex or key you use

yeah, ive been wanting to set up a mesh network.
shit is pretty slow though.

Attached: shack.jpg (800x600, 81K)

Did you get a new chair user?

>shit is pretty slow though.
First, NICE op postion.
Second, slow is better than NONE.
When all the phone zombies are lost because the carriers are down, we'll be able to continue comms.

...

t. boomer

desu I'm slowly considering this more and more, not only because it's so reliable, but also because it's the final frontier of telecommunications, way more than the internet has ever been, or the so-called "dark web" of secret Tor nodes and other alternative networks, which still rely on the same internet no matter what, with its DNS, its IP address distribution by corporations, and its submarine cables.

They would take your gear if they wanted to control the lines of communication.

Kind of like how the government does it? Rand Paul literally just convinced the senate to stop supplying arms to fight Yemen. They are no better than us and shouldn’t be more privileged.

Uh huh. And the 20 or so I have vacumm packed with desiccant in "places"?

Good luck. All were bought cash.
No bill of sale, no tracing.

Wuts dat? $50K? More?

So just don’t get your license and you’ll be straight bro.

>be me listening to some repeater broadcast
>guy talks about life after death and metaphysics for 30 mins, really shy and stumbles a lot
>"D-did anyone listen?"
>no response
>5 mins later
>some old dude lets out a big loud BRAAP
>"ten out of ten Billy"
>someone makes retard noises
>"UHH AHHR ARGHHHHHHHHRHHHHGG"
>"loud and proud son loud and proud"
>some old mexican talking loud in spanish, Despacito playing and dog barking in the background
>gunshots and police sirens
>Californians telling each other to fuck off back to California
>guys talking about wildfires
>old hag talking about how he used to beat his wife
>someone complaining there's an UFO over his house
the american experience
that first guy was kinda nice desu, he had a cute kind of autism

Ham Radio in EU is pretty much:
>CQ CQ CONTEST
>Brits asking Italians how's the weather in Venice
>Italians asking each other how's the weather in Venice
>lots of "saluti anche a te e bon proseguimento"
>Germans either speaking Spanish or planning WW3
>Dutch boomers relating their lives to strangers (some are kinda interesting though)
>and of course lots of drunk Russians speaking whatever and laughing a lot
