Belarus is a Russian client-state. I think being able to attack through there will let them attack from every direction and conquer the Baltics/Ukraine quickly. If this takes under a week then I could see Russia just getting away with it. NATO members won't be in the mood to fight a world war if they think the situation has stabilized. If Russia goes all out, they could probably get into Romania and Poland. I don't see them getting further though. They don't have the logistics, and by then Germany/France/Britain/America will be mobilized and have troops to fight back. I also have serious doubts in Russia's ability to supply such an invasion.

Tactical nukes would come out quickly (as per Russian defense doctrine) which in turn would lead to higher yield bombs shortly after. Most main metropolises would be obliterated. The real ground battle comes afterward when Europe will have to deal with the 40~80 million muslim insurrection that would most likely occur.

Baltic states would fall in less than 3-4 hours if done correctly.
Ukraine would take a couple of days maybe a week if all resources are used to take it.
After that i don't believe Russia want to push further as they don't have the logistical capacity to go further.

Anyway in the case of Russia successfully invading Ukraine and the baltic states it wouldn't end well for them. First these regions would be very costly to control because of the high probability of guerrilla warfare (most than certainly helped by western countries). NATO could not conventionally defend Europe at this point because the European armies are shit tier by now except for UK and France.

But nuclear weapons could also only be used tactically on the battlefield (where they are very mobile), because fixed nuclear launch positions would be neutralised by NATO orbital neutrino beam platforms.

Then it basically comes down to who got how many secret nukes placed into enemy cities and we play a game of how many cities every side is willing to blow up before ceasing hostilities.

If Russia nukes EU, Russia loses its customers for oil. Corpses create no demand for energy.
Now they have to ship that shit all over the world, and it's extremely expensive to do that, they lose their profits. If the EU nukes Russia, they are literally obliterating the source of their energy and it will take years of not decades to get everything back on line due to the fallout.
