I've been saying this for a long time. A prison is a prison, regardless of the inmate's age. You're not allowed to leave school. In Sweden you're not even allowed a homeschooling, you actually are forced into the state's schools. There's a fence around the school keeping you in. Is the state forcing you to be there? You're forbidden to leave? That's a prison. "Education" is not an inherent benefit to the person. "Social" interaction is not something that schools have a monopoly on. Public schools are prisons for kids, some get through it okay, some don't even survive and some go so crazy from the unnatural environment they go on murderous rampages.

lel check my flag again m8 but amongst my class/batchmates most end up with successful careers with those typical doctor,engineer and pilot jobs. And we're just some rural kids up in the north eastern part in this shanty town of a third world country.

Though I must admit the education system here is too exam oriented where it's difficult to adjust when you get into tertiary education with no clear motivation to graduate. This is mostly in private uni though where all the YOLO fags congregate with their parents money. Again even public uni is better here regardless of the rankings. This is just my POV of a rural kid though that loathe those urbanites.

I'm not against school, I'm against mandatory school. You wouldn't understand if you went to a good school system from a small town where everyone knows each other. There are cases wehre it works, but forcing kids to attend a school where they are in constant danger is fucked up. Yeah, homeschooling is an option, and if you do a good enough job the state is perfectly fine, and you're able to do that already today. Admittedly you do still have to pay property taxes but you still see the benefits of keeping the shitty parents kids locked away.

I was homeschooled for a year, it was ok except you never got to socialise with other kids, always at home with mum, and I was a smart kid so I was usually only doing school stuff for 3 hours a day.

Good if there are no good schools around, but better to go to a good co-ed school where you can be a kid with other kids.

Keep it as an option, but if you only homeschool for the whole kid's childhood it will leave them socially disconnected.

This is one of the few subjects on here I feel passionate about. I hated school. The enviroment of a mostly minority school ruin the joy of education for me. Yes, that's true. My uncle and aunt have done a co-ed type program with a school in their rural town, and have had good results with their 6 kids. I had a horrible experience with the public education system, and fought hard at the indoctrination. It left me being socially alienated among my peers, but I was able to break the status quo and make something of myself.
