Leafbro, maybe you have access to other sources of information, but I can confidently predict that the US housing market is about to enter a cooling off period that will spark a small recession, which will be good for the economy at large.
This is a result of keeping interest rates artificially low for so long, prices are overvalued, now that interest rates are coming down (we will see 1 more interest rate hike of 0.25% in 2019, not 3 as they have previously offered), the economy is going to calibrate asset prices closer to their real value.

Here is some possible outcomes and probabilities.
1. The EU will have elections next year bringing in right wing candidates and a rebirth of nationalism at the top. Effectively making the EU a contradictory useless entity that will eventually fall but not in 2019.
2. Isreal and the US create a false flag operation in the strait of Hormuz against Iran, starting another Middle East conflict with draws in Russia and China. Essentially the East vs the West showdown creating global conflict in trade relations and significantly reducing stock valuations and financial markets.
3. California secessionist movement picks up steam.
4. The Canadian murder rate skyrockets due to mass immigration.
5. The London murder rate skyrockets due to mass immigration.
6. The city of Chicago defaults on debt payments.
7. Baltimore Maryland is officially declared a third world city. And it’s downgraded to junk status.
8. Sports gambling is legalized in many US states.

I was mainly referring to prices here in Canada where we were essentially insulated from 2008's crash. You're right and that will likely happen down south, but over here we keep the market artificially propped up with foreigners and their money laundering through out real estate market. Right now the system is set up to literally make it easier for a foreigner with ill gotten gains to get a mortgage than it is for a real Canadian. All to keep the machine churning.
Note that our housing prices are essentially set by the two largest cities, so it's far easier to control than a country that has several important cities across its territory.

Definitely true. Since we state plan the economy far more it will take longer but when it comes down, it will come down hard. I work in the industry and I've seen firsthand the dogshit mortgages that we have given out over the years. People stretched to the absolute limit with their payments, a few lies here and there, and an exception granted as they originally weren't qualified. Now rates are up, terms are coming up for renegotiation, wages have stagnated, they've taken on even more personal debt and lines of credit (some are attached to the mortgage so as you pay you get access to more credit and magically people use that too) and people are fucked. We can't keep injecting dirty Chinese money here forever. Eventually, there will be a slowdown (whether they invest elsewhere or the Party shuts them down) and it will all come apart.
Personally, I can't fucking wait. I hope it all explodes and makes 2008 look like a picnic. It'll be my time to put my savings to use and scoop up properties and equities at massive discounts.
