Personal rundown:

Initially it was about taxes which are EXTREMELY high and put a lot of pressure for the lower and middle classes, for some it is really insufferable.

Don't forget that France was for a long time and still is for some parts a rural country. But one farmer kills himself every two days. If tax on gas is voted, they wouldn't even be able to sustain themselves.

Also, the movement quickly escalated into an anti-Macron thing. And Macron was actually genuinely supported by 8% of the electorate when he was elected, and only 24% of the people voted for him I believe.
So that's nothing.

All groups who had griefs against him progressively showed up: for my part, I protest in favor of chaos, a change of regime, a stop to the crazy demographic replacement policies… but also about taxes of course, which massively feed shtiskins who are themselves exempted and fraud constantly without being worried.

So basically it happened like this:
Week 1: popular, spontaneous movement like it can happen quite often in France, except this time it wasn't represented by (((unions)))
Week 2: most people went in Paris to make a bigger protest, the movement was still starting to be uprooted in the provinces, leftists start to show up, all right-winged are present
Week 3: huge riots, leftists/antifas are more numerous and break everything, a few shitskins start to show up as well
movement going hot too in the province: Toulouse (South), Antibes (South-East), Brittany (North-West), Puy-en-Velay (East)… everywhere.

So I predict for week 4: more riots, things broken, probably more shitskins too.

Also note that the movement doesn't only happens on weekends. For instance, tomorrow, the refineries and gas stations will be blocked. In a few regions, there already are restrictions.
For two weeks, my local supermarkets, and others all across the countries, have lacked many supplies too. Especially meat, here…

This shit will not stop until something serious is done.

The problem with Macron is that the international corporate MSM has been hailing him as Neoliberal Jesus, descended from on high in a golden chariot to deliver Europe from uppity populists who dare question the infinite wisdom of the post-war liberal consensus.

Macron started believing his own bullshit, and it shows. Every time he opens his mouth, he comes across as an arrogant fuck who doesn't even try to empathize with peripheral France ("Oh, you've been unemployed for years? Just walk across the street and get a job at that restaurant.") and won't even pretend to care what the opposition thinks. This 'gas tax' was just the last straw.

Keep in mind, the gas tax came on the heels of massive tax cuts for the rich. He claims its for ecological reasons, but it's much worse than that. He wants to have his cake and eat it too, in that he wants to be seen as fighting climate change, but he also doesn't want to piss his rich kike friends off by making them pay for it.

The rich here don't live in the rural areas, they either live in big cities like Paris, Marseille, or Lyon, or they live along the Mediterranean coast. In both cases, you can live perfectly normal lives and never need to own a car that runs on gas.
