Portuguese prefered Portuguese born women then Portuguese women of recent past (parents born in Portugal) and then of distant Portuguese ancesstry.
In the mass migrations to Brazil in the 19th century the Portuguese were the ones that marryed more their own. Something like 51% of men marryed Portuguese born women. Italians were 48% and Germans 47% or so this aren't the exact numbers but close. Keep in mind there are 302 men for every 100 women. Also a lot of Portuguese probably marryed Italians or Spaniards and that isn't race mixing.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Portugal has a smaller population than England, France or Spain.
