Leftism has three parts: the smallest part is a handful of self-aware people who have ideas that work whenever they can find enough people who think like them to put it into practice. The next biggest part is a cadre of completely aware and completely selfish manipulators who distort the message and tear apart logic for personal gain, both social and material. The biggest group is easily 2/3rds of leftism, the people who've fallen for the lies of the middle group. This is where many of the ideological contradictory come into play: some negress doesn't want a job but still wants money, so she argues in favor of x, which goes against what she's already said but will give her free shit if she can convince people it's true regardless. The handful of actual leftists are against it, since it is contradictory, against the ideology, and simply bad press, but they get drowned out because between the people who just want free shit and the people who just want to seem like civil rights warriors, the latter two always win over the people who know how thinking works.

This actually has created a really interesting schism in Leftism, especially the insistence on both hivemindism AND gun control. Because that's what socialists need to make a revolution happen: to disarm themselves.
Yeah, leftists can see that that's total shit, too, but again, 90% of the movement is there to get something out of it, not to actually make anything better. Schlomo Shekelburg wants the goyim disarmed, and Chaz and her mates of the feminine-penised persuasion want to think they fight nazis, so if you actually want to create real change in the world you get to eat shit.
Embarrassingly, this is the same problem that communism has always had since the first revolution. People always latch on to it because they think they can get free shit and good feelings out of it without working, and this takes over the movement until you have lazy faggots fighting against psycopaths who's dick only feels good if they are killing people over who gets to not do real work once the revolution is over. The reason why these revolutions fail is often because they can't wait to play out this fight until AFTER the revolution, too, leaving the same few percent to do the actual fighting while everyone else angles to be the last person alive with political aspirations.

imo the main difference between the lefties of today and the lefties of yesteryear is that they started drinking their own Kool-Aid.

You aren't going to open them up to new beliefs OP if you don't at least pretend to respect their disposition. Although the lack of respect can be a beneficial move by creating perceptions of 'taboo' and 'wrong' beliefs, it can also cause an immense impasse if people feel cornered and forced to stand their ground, there needs to be an easy way for them to change their views without feeling invalidated.

It's because it's a revolutionary ideology. Originally there is the concept of the utopia that will happen after the revolution, but in the meantime everything is directed towards achieving the revolution and eventually the ideology itself becomes focused on whatever will destroy the current order.

It's why everything changes if the revolution actually happens. Of course it does, the goals are almost completely reversed (destroy the current order vs. uphold the revolutionary new order).

Everything we think of as "Marxism" is the pre-revolutionary form.

Modern leftism makes a lot more sense if you look at it as an open-source cult instead of a political movement. It's like what happened to here, but to an entire party.

I think some of them are misguided but many are just bad people. I think the difference can be detected based on whether they argue in good faith or not.

Taken alone, they might not be in "turbo-sperg about natsees" mode, since that is not an easy nor nice way to be, and you would want to reserve it for when someone is explicitly challenging your core ideas from a right-wing perspective.
