Lots of taxes, shitty earnings for a lot of people, especially in peripheral France. Plus, Macron is behaving like Napoleon, and tends to treat "the people" like trash, so people feel humiliated.

The fuel tax was just what started the protest, but it is much more than that.

Nothing much will happen I guess. Maybe a 25% chance that things could change in a big way. Otherwise it will be just small adjustments and people will carry on their everyday life.
For now it's mostly roadblocks, people are a bit annoyed but overall they support the movement.

Our army is very specialized, that's why it's efficient. They're trained for crowd control, but aren't mandated to maintain order in protests. Also, very few units are trained at this now.
