Democracy is basically a mob rule, so the very concept of elections is just an illusion of freedom for the collective, at the expense of the individual. Ancapism is unfortunately utopist ; There must be some kind of authority to guarantee that our individual rights are not violated. How does anarchists deal with crime?
A criminal being someone who infringes the rights or integrity of someone else. If you decide punishments for certain actions commited by certain subjects then you have the basis of rule of law and i don't know if anarchists want to create an alternative legal theory and system.

Most crimes don't warrant the person or suspect getting shot. We have courts for a reason, it's very difficult for victims to ascertain what is happening in the vast majority of cases and respond rationally and with appropriate force.

The idea of private police is laughable. Either there'd be a single private corporation with a monopoly on "policing" (a mafia) or competing police forces who respond to customers. Two dudes get in a fight, call their private cops on each other, what next? Or, a woman claims another woman stole money from her. Her private police kick the other woman's door in to execute a warrant, but in doing so they are violating her property rights so she shoots at them and calls her own private police to shoot them for trespassing and violating the NAP.
