you dont understand why trump had this campaign for nato members increasing their military spending do you? First of all Nato members are expected to buy stuff that is interoperable. this limits potential arms producers to procure your equipment from, to those in Europe and the US only. At the moment Europeans still buy a lot from the US so they profitate. But the idea of the European Army is also linked to a commone European procurement system that would only use European (British excluded) companies like Airbus. Europe is a huge market and losing it to this Europeany Army initiative is a huge threat to the US. Also they lose ways to pressure European policies when they are not a key arms provider anymore.
