Tb.qh an EU Army goes against the interests of every indigenous European volk. Not having an own army, means the involved states give up their sovereignty. National sovereignty is based in the capability to use violence to defend a set territory, it's the building block of every nation.

The purpose of the EU army would not be to project global power. Its purpose would be to put down civil unrest across the EU. It would function in the way the Warsaw Pact used to function. Whenever there is an uprising in a country, send in the soldiers from outside of the country. Native soldiers of a country are often reluctant to open fire upon their own countrymen. Using troops from outside countries solves that problem. Just like they did in Czechoslovakia in 1968 and other uprisings.
