As a long time hunter I can safely say that there is no practical use for an assault rifle. They have no sporting purpose, you don't spray and pray at a flock of deer. If you want to role-play as a soldier then go do airsoft or paintbball.
I mean, I own guns but I don't understand all of this nonsense arguing people do about assault rifles. Why would anyone want to own one in the first place? They serve no purpose other than killing people and you can't use them for hunting because they ruin the meat.
Now, I see no reason that we can't get rid of assault weapons AND still keep the Second Amendment. The Second says you can own a gun but it does not say what kind of gun you are allowed by the government to own. All we need to do is compromise by banning assault rifles and that will settle this whole debate once and for all. All people really need to have access to are revolvers and shotguns.
The purpose of the second amendment literally is that citizens have the ability to kill people.
It is one of the few things to admire about the USA.

I agree with the revolver and shotgun thing, but there are other uses for semiautomatic rifles, like hog hunting, and wildlife control.
With that being said, people still have a right to bear arms, and the government shouldn’t have much say in what arms they keep as long as they are responsible with them, but I suppose it all depends on what one expects from their government.
If you have high expectations for government, then go ahead and agitate for more shit from it if that’s how you want to live your life.
If not, don’t ban a good thing going for many people because of a couple of idiots. Instead, have the government focus on the underlying causes of violence in the first place.
