it never happens, OP

This is our curse.

How much damage would it do if it hit?

(((NASA)))
heh, kiddo

>scientist: yeah its passing at a safe distance, you might be able to see it on a clear plane outside of city
>(((journalist))):so youre saying that it might skim the earth?

I think the angle and speed also play a crucial role in how powerful it is

Why are brits so retarded?

Every year they report this same report and nothing ever fucking happens

Meh

earth is flat.. any meteorite that falls is part of the firmament most likely.. if anything they need to fake a solar flare or something to keep some stuff from spreading through the internet

a totally random small rock from space will clonk the pope on the head

Maybe because it gets closer every time, just waiting to hit

>skim earth
Aka, approach closer to earth than Jupiter.

Space isn't real, we live in a simulation. The asteroid is excuse for a massive software update. Remember who you are faggots.

Extinction level.

>2 million miles
>moon is 250k miles away
It's fucking nothing.

Maybe you stopped huffing propane you would think more clearly

It would fuck up a small continent and counter global warming.

>if

at least they didnt do september 25 again this year

This one is supposed to affect our gravity. Also, they are under reporting it's true size. It's actually the size of Texas

>skim
>implying any of us are lucky enough to be wiped out via giant space rocks

Nothing ever happens

Get for asteroid skimming off of Israel

It would fall into the ocean so nothing

If it hit an ocean we'd be ok-ish except for coastal areas which would be devastated. If it hit land we're almost fucked as a species.

rollin'

We'd likely be fine. A mile isn't shit. Fucker is probably porous, and full of ice that will burn up during entry.

seeonerwon

Are you fucking stupid?

No but I am

ready?

Fucking hit us already!

Humanity needs to go extinct.

Please be Muslim rock
Please be Muslim rock
Please be Muslim rock

It's not real BUT I unironically wish it were and I pray for God to smite this whole Sodom and Gomorrah world.

>Praying this is wormwood

A close earth approach only means that it has an earth periapsis at a lower altitude than the Moon. Just a big fucking rock that you won't even notice because it's flying 150,000 miles away in the middle of nothing.

Let it hit Israel or California. Whichever you wish Kek.

Would be epic

oh no a big tsunami will fuck up the coastal retards
no one cares.

how about a kootchakeh

Dude, it's over a million miles away, it's not a threat.
And will remain a non-threat for your entire life.

The Vaticant*

>celebrate the end
go home Donald

The Earth is 70% ocean, so chances are the asteroid would fall into the ocean. Proportionately, it would be like dropping a small rock in a pool. It would have no affect. Most likely NASA will try to redirect it into the Marys Trench (deepest part of the sea), at least, that's what I would do.

would depend completely on the shape and trajectory.

are we stuck in a loop?

do you have a pen to hand?

>what should i do to celebrate the end?

Attached: fuck my sister raw.png (535x550, 196K)

>ice that will burn up during entry
Yeah that's not what happens when you superheat ice into steam within fractions of a second.

Odds are it would strike open water in one of the oceans but not before it breaks up in the atmosphere into smaller chunk sized forms. The impact however might cause a tsunami capable of reaching every neighboring continent so if you're in the beach area you are fucked.

Buy a homeless guy a beer

At least I used my vacation before we got fucking obliterated.

Oh, it breaks the thing into a million tiny pieces. Forgot about that part.

That’s not how ocean strikes work. They end up dumping more energy into the earth biosphere because the water rushes back in and gets boiled in the crater. The land strikes radiate a ton of heat back into space which reduces their overall impact on earth.

here's the actual article because OP is a retard
express.co.uk/news/science/1054571/NASA-asteroid-warning-asteroid-2003-sd220-one-mile-wide-skim-Earth-Close-Approach

tl;dr will pass earth shortly before Christmas at roughly 7.36 lunar distances

You didn't even bother to read the article, did you?
The asteroid has passed this morning, and we're all here, you dumbfuck.
Its passage was set for the morning of Dec, 7th. Which is today.

Well, I didn't actually read your picture. I assumed they were just talking about the next large asteroid with a close-approach to Earth. They aren't, it seems they are talking about 2003 SD220.
But that is even further away then 2018 WX1.
So again, not a threat.

Attached: 2003 SD220.jpg (1796x883, 1.25M)

>"The giant asteroid will reach its closest possible distance to Earth just three days before Christmas, in the wee hours of December 22."

>7.36 lunar distances
>well over a million miles
Uhg “skim”

over a million miles doesn't sound as threatening

Sorry my bad. It's for tomorrow morning, not this morning.
Btw, in this article is said "Dec, 7th":
express.co.uk/news/science/1055237/Nasa-asteroid-warning-asteroid-2018-WX1-earth-close-approach

That article is about a different asteroid

>could have been queen of the reich
>chose BBC

Attached: 1543101779153.jpg (720x720, 194K)

k

Wormwood. Ive been waiting

The fuck? We probably get "skimmed" at this distance at least 3 times a day. We get "shooting stars" daily, which are meteorites that actually do skim our atmosphere. What's with the panic article?

>What's with the panic article?
clickbait

In fact, if you fucks WANT something to worry about. Worry about 99942 Apophis.
That's the one that's gonna fucking "skim" the planet in a best case situation. Otherwise a chuck of rock a thousand feet wide is going to hit the planet with a force of over 7500 megatons. That's 1500x the explosive force that we have ever used in wartime combined. Including the nuclear bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
All that energy combined on a single spot.

>will fly past the planet

imagine that thing hitting an ocean, fuckin 10km tall waves. jesus

well it's about fucking time

blow all your savings like the world is going to end then immediately kill yourself when literally nothing happens

I would imagine it's because of the size of the roid.

It would be terrible if this hit africa, or my ex-gf
