especially since fc5 was such a garbage game. first of all the entire premise was retarded, theres choppers and planes around, just fly out of the valley if you dont have any communication with the outside. Secondly the ending was retarded. I wont ruin it but it was completely disappointing and felt like they ran out of time and money and had to wrap it up quick. Far Cry 5 is kind of an accidental red pill.
A cult of insane christians (because of course they are) have been prepping for the end of the world. They are a pretty rough bunch but up until the start of the game they haven't broken any laws. The government takes exception to their very existence and tries to arrest the cult leader on bogus kidnapping charges. The cult take this as the first sign of the coming apocalypse and begin "The Reaping" a process of forcibly moving people from the local area into bomb shelters or killing them if they have to. At the end of the game after you've blown up the three bomb shelters the cult owned the town is hit by a nuclear blast proving that the cult was right and would have saved more people had you just left them alone.
Now the cult does use some really shady methods (they basically keep people strung out on some kind of super meth and do a lot of brainwashing) but at the end of the game they were proven right and almost everything they do that's outright evil feels really tacked on. Like the developers knew they'd fucked up so they just decided to make the cult the biggest bunch of evil hicks that they possibly could.
Still not as bad as Wolfenstein. They basically make out that jews are responsible for pretty much every technological advance in history and are super advanced and powerful but somehow the nazis stole all their space magic and used it for evil (but also made the world undeniably a better place, the game is set in the 60's but society is more advanced than it is today). Completely glossing over that the jews have had technology that would make the world a utopia but haven't used it. They've done nothing to prevent wars, disease, genocide. Famine. Nothing. I just sat there playing it and thought to myself "Yeah fuck those guys I'd steal their technology too." Again the game doesn't actually have a counterpoint to accidently justifying the holocaust so they just make the nazis and hitler comically evil instead.
