He’s not. He did lie to investors. For that he must be punished. But the common criticism of daraprim pricing is misguided. He didn’t do anything the average pharma co isn’t doing. He just didn’t hide behind lawyers and spokesmen.

He was actually a great person. He did jack up the price of daraprim from like 13 dollars to like 750 dollars. He didn’t do it for self profit, he did it to fund research to make the pill better. The pill was made in the 1930s and it sucked, it had way too many side effects. And if you didn’t have insurance, he gave you the pill for free. And it’s not a pill you take a lot, so over a lifetime, it would cost you 20k, which is much cheaper than most drugs that cost millions over your lifetime, which insurance pays for.

Now, this does fuck over insurance holders and tax payers. But ALL pharmaceutical companies do this, WAY worse than Shkreli. In fact, this is what Obamacare was implemented for. Liz Fowler wrote Obamacare, then went right back to being a pharmaceutical bigwig. It was a multi trillion dollar scam that NOBODY talks about.
