>no molotovs >"protestors" just standing around checking phones >always run away when police gets close >a few of them actually try do something >the police just outnumbers them
wow great job france, this is truly the revolution macron has fucked your ass and will continue to fuck your ass for the next years and there's nothing you can do about it
Everyone seems to be bashing European politicians for the Paris Agreement and not doing enough to stop climate change.
I've been living in France for all of my life. Yes, there is inequality and crime and terrible things happening here and in the rest of Europe. Like everywhere else.
But if you are a bit familiar with Macron, you should know he is one of the best, if not the best policy makers in the world. Since his election, French economy, aid for those in need and pretty much everything else has improved a lot.
As to the taxes, of course they are an incredible burden for France and other European countries. But what do you want to do if not pay them? You can't not pay for your carbon emissions (see Schengen and the most fundamental elements of the EU). In my opinion, you can't riot or block traffic, because that's not only cruel but also selfish as f***. We have the capabilities of paying for our carbon feetprints the majority of these taxes are the most thankful and giving members in our whole society. And if other EU countries, or the US, or just anybody would have agreed to pay at least a fraction of the number Sweden took in, no country would have been in much trouble to save the planet.
And what about the yellow vests? First off, the majority of yellow vests are terrorists. Check that on Wikipedia or whereever you like. Most of them are radicalised at home or in the internet. And those who came as refugees would have found another way, no doubt. It's easy to get to Europe. This place is so open in any way, you just cannot give 100% security. As many of you might know, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.".
So for god's sake let these taxes stay here, let us deal with climate hotspots and the real culprits, but don't blame an entire gas tax that is %99.9 affordable.
Couple of thoughts. If those rioters had rifles, the Government would have been overthrow in one night without a doubt. That said I can see some smart tactics being used by some of the protesters -I suspect these are far left groups? Only because they have a form for working in tightly knitted groups carrying out disruptive forms of violence. I suspect the 500 arrests are related to undercover infiltration and perhaps far worse plans have been scuppered as a result.
I'm trying to understand what the goals of some of these people are? Are they just protesting? Or are there serious groups who want to overthrow the Government? Or are there some other lesser aims?
Order and chaos is on a spectrum, and Paris looks to be high up the chaos side. So if this was overall aim, I think we can say the Yellow Vests scored an overwhelming victory. I think the media have massively played down the significance of what we are seeing. The violence and rioting is comparable to that seen 'failed states'. The only reason we havent seen it escalate is because of a lack guns and ammunition. I hope people understand this and reflect upon what this means.
I love to read other user's insights, discussion of tactics and what they think Like this user and comparisons to other riots. Not sure why we dont have a sticky and more quality engagement here?
Macron needs to send in the military to arrest these people. It’s pretty clear by now that russian propaganda is behind these protests and are antagonizing the people into these riots. They must be stopped to preserve the EU.
